THE TOWN OF MORLAIX
| The Morlaix region, stretching from the mountains to the sea,
offers the visitor a great diversity of sites from the rolling landscape
of its hills to the beautiful Bay of Morlaix whose many islets shelter numerous
species of birds. Here the Château du Taureau has stood for almost five centuries. Carantec, Plougasnou, St-Jean-du-Doigt, Locquirec, Plestin-les-Grèves border the coast with their superb sandy beaches and delightful sheltered coves. Morlaix’s old houses, called “à ponts d’allez” or “à lanterne” illustrate the originality of the town’s architecture, while the ‘mountain’ range of the Monts d’Arrée forms a pleasant back-drop for the intricate silhouettes of parish enclosures such as those at St Thegonnec, Guimiliau and Plougonven, to name but a few.
